Baltonsborough Parish Council

Feb 07 Baltonsborough PC Meeting

Many items under discussion related to the state of roads and paths throughout the village. Routine requests to Highways to address these problems had met with limited success. Councillors were not satisfied that we were receiving an adequate service and will seek advice from SCC on the matter. Similarly, councillors were not content with the lack of consultation on new guidelines for speed limits and will seek more information.

Quadron will be asked to continue their contract to cut the grass in the playpark during this summer.

The approach of the local elections in May will generate much publicity. This is complicated by the parallel activities by the government to reorganise the tiers of local government and the opposing views of the District Councils to that of SCC. Nevertheless all parish councillors have to stand for re-election together with any new candidates that may be proposed. Villagers are asked to watch the local press for details and note that on 22 March a presentation will be given at the annual Parish Meeting. All are welcome to attend. Details of the agenda will be published shortly.

One planning application for change of use was considered for Ash View Farm. Councillors had no objections provided certain conditions were applied. MDC has been informed.

The Moviola film on 25 March will be “The Devil Wears Prada”. Following January’s success with “The Queen” your support for this final film of the winter season is sought.

The Council’s website has been upgraded and all are welcome to log on and participate or just read it.

Parish Councils are being inundated with questionnaires at the moment. The current ones seek our views on the proposals for the Post Office Network and MDC’s approach to play areas in the District.
